Amplifying Pop and Rock Musicals

Founded by Robert Nederlander, Jr. in 2001, Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment (NWE) is focused on the expansion of the Broadway and Nederlander entertainment brands into new and emerging markets globally. Today, NWE develops, manages and operates theatres worldwide, produces Broadway and related shows in domestic and international markets, and undertakes cultural and education initiatives.

Over the past 15 years, NWE has presented eight Broadway style productions across China including West Side Story; 42nd Street; Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA; Fame The Musical; Luma; Broadway Rox, and most recently a multi-city tour of Next Stop Broadway, a concert series featuring many of Broadway’s top performers.

Other past and present global initiatives include collaboration with the Cuban Ministry of Culture to produce and present a Spanish language adaptation of RENT, the first Broadway musical to be produced in Cuba in over 50 years; co-designed and operated the Zorlu Center for the Performing Arts located in Istanbul, Turkey’s largest multi-purpose performing arts center; design and pre-opening preparation of venues including Japan, Taiwan and Spain; the adaptation of The Attic, one of Hungary’s most beloved and longest-running theatrical productions for the Broadway stage, and adaptation of the Broadway musical King Kong for Japan and other international markets.

Educational initiatives include the establishment of the Advanced Certificate in Commercial Theater Development in partnership with Boston University Metropolitan College, the Cultural Trade & Industry Exchange Program, established in conjunction with China’s Ministry of Culture as well as past and present collaboration with various educational institutions across China including Peking University, the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and the Beijing Central Academy of Drama.
